Can I Write My CTAs in Advance?

  • by

Is writing content every month getting time-consuming? Are you looking for things you can prepare once to save time every month? Let’s take a look at one element of content writing you can do in advance, the call to action (CTA).

What is a CTA?

A call to action tells the reader (or listener) what action to take next. Often, it includes a link or QR code to allow that action to be taken easily. That next step could be:

  • Read a similar article (yours or others)
  • Purchase a product
  • Work together
  • Go to another website
  • Find more resources

The Benefits of Writing CTAs in Advance

It is up to you if you write a call to action for every piece of content or copy or if you prefer to write a list in advance. You could do a combination of the two options if that works for your coaching business.

Save Time

The main benefit of writing your CTAs in advance is that it will save you time. You have some templates that you can copy and paste into each piece of content with some slight modifications.

It may seem like having a prepared list of CTAs won’t save you much time. After all, how long does it really take to write a call to action?! You would be surprised, though. Most of the time, using pre-written CTAs will save you maybe 2 minutes. When you have writer’s block, it can save you a lot more time!

Those 2 minutes are not to be sniffed at either. Think about how many pieces of content you create for your coaching business during a month, including social media, podcasts, videos, blog posts, and guest posts. How many minutes do those 2 minutes become now?

Strengthen Brand Voice

Writing your calls to action in advance allows you to create a list of compelling CTAs that match your brand voice. You can spend plenty of time on crafting the best possible call to action rather than rushing.

Write Purposeful Content

Your CTAs is a list of the most important aspect of your coaching business. They send people to the services, digital products, and content that you think would be most useful. Having your CTAs written in advance gives you the endpoint of each piece of copy and content. That allows you to reverse engineer your marketing assets.

With the call to action sorted, you can stay on track when you are writing.

How to Write Your Calls to Action in Advance

Start by listing all of the things you would like to point people towards. This could be:

  • Your coaching programs
  • Coaching courses
  • Digital products
  • SEO pages
  • Key pieces of content
  • Your book
  • Your email list signup or lead magnet
  • Affiliate products or services

Be purposeful when writing this list. There are many things you could link to; focus on the ones that you will link to the most. You can always add to the list if you find yourself writing individual CTAs for a particular thing.

You can also create a call to action formula for when you want to link blog readers to similar content. That will help with a lot of the one-off content-related CTAs.

Next, write a CTA for each of the items on your list. You can write multiple versions if you have enough time. Pay attention to your brand voice and your ideal coaching client’s wants.
