How to Stand Out from Other Coaches in Your Industry

No matter what industry you work in, there are a lot of coaches for your ideal coaching clients to choose from. How can you differentiate yourself to attract your ideal coaching clients? Because your ideal coaching clients will compare you to other coaches. You don’t want them to compare you based on price – all that achieves is a race to the bottom. So how do you stand out from other coaches?

Find a Niche

Niche down and become the expert in solving a specific problem for a specific type of client. For example:

  • Health and fitness coaching to improve PCOS symptoms
  • Financial coaching to help single mums become more financially secure
  • Business coaching to teach you how to design your business to work with your ADHD (not against it)
  • Book coaching for lead generation books for business owners

Choosing a coaching niche provides your coaching clients with confidence that you can help them to achieve their desired results and avoid common pitfalls. They’re more likely to choose that option over a general coach in your field.

Embrace Your Personality

When your ideal coaching clients are choosing a coach to work with, they are making their decision based on personality just as much as expertise. Your coaching clients will be working with you for months, so it makes sense they want to work with somebody they get along with. Infuse every aspect of your business with your personality. It will help you to attract like-minded coaching clients and help give your leads another factor to compare.

Unique Offer

Tailor your offerings to your ideal coaching clients rather than focusing on supplying the same products and services as other coaches in your industry. Coaching clients in your niche will have different wants and needs than coaching clients outside of your niche. You will also have different strengths and weaknesses than other coaches in your industry, even if you serve the same types of clients.

Your whole business needs to be tailored to you and your ideal coaching clients. Forget what other coaches are doing. Focus on creating offers that help your coaching clients achieve their goals. What extras can you throw in to mitigate any stumbling blocks? What needs do your ideal coaching clients have that you can better address? What complaints or frustrations do your ideal coaching clients have with other coaching programs?

Identify What Makes You Special

Every coach brings something special to the table. It could be lived experiences, a unique perspective, or even complimentary expertise. Identify what you bring to coaching that most other coaches do not. Once you’ve identified that, share it everywhere. Make it part of your marketing and product creation.

Do Something Crazy

Attract media attention by doing something out there or something that nobody has tried before. Set a massive goal or do something big that matches your brand values. Document your journey on social media and in guest posts so that word gets out about what you are doing and why you are doing it. It is great publicity for your business and another way to show that you are passionate about what you are doing.
